Giving Back

Empowering the Next Generation

For Adonal, giving back isn’t just a value—it’s a lifelong mission. Through two powerful nonprofit organizations, he’s helping young people find their voice, their strength, and their path forward. These organizations represent the heart of Adonal’s mission: to uplift, educate, and empower. Whether it’s helping a young athlete dream beyond the game or equipping a student with the knowledge to shape their society, Adonal’s impact goes far beyond the court.

The Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) is rooted in Adonal’s own story —from studying under the dim light of a kerosene lamp on the small island of Canouan. KLF was born from Adonal’s deep belief that all children, no matter where they come from, deserve the chance to dream big and access opportunities that ignite their full potential. KLF brings light to underserved communities through programs that combine basketball, literacy, and leadership. From hosting youth basketball camps across the Caribbean and the U.S. to offering scholarships, career training, and mentorship, KLF is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child it serves.

Democracy Matters was founded by Adonal Foyle during his NBA career to empower students to take an active role in shaping democracy. Inspired by his studies in political science and a belief in youth-driven change, Adonal created the organization to help young people see themselves as leaders and change agents. Democracy Matters builds college chapters across the U.S. that engage students in campaign finance reform, civic education, and voter empowerment. Through hands-on organizing, advocacy, and mentorship, the program equips the next generation with the tools and confidence to lead with purpose and fight for a fairer, more inclusive democracy.
