Foyle Agrees to Stay at Home

OAKLAND -- The Warriors solved their potential hole in the middle Monday afternoon when free-agent center Adonal Foyle agreed to terms on a five-year contract.

ESPN reported that Foyle spurned offers from teams such as Orlando and Boston to remain with the team that drafted him in 1997.

No terms of the deal were announced and Foyle's signing can't become official until July 14, the first day free agents can sign.

Golden State was bracing for the possible departure of both Foyle and last year's starting center, Erick Dampier, also a free agent. Dampier, who opted out of his contract last week, is not expected back with the Warriors, who may still get some value in a sign-and-trade deal.

Still, it appears as though Foyle, 29, will wind up as the Warriors' starting center. Foyle, who has started just 133 of his 438 career games (eight last season), had knee problems and played in just 44 games last season. He averaged 3.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.

Foyle's only competition at center currently on the roster is Evan Eschmeyer, who missed the entire season with a knee injury after being acquired from Dallas in the Antawn Jamison deal.
