The Game

Welcome to the part of my website created to give fans a behind the scenes look at life as a professional basketball player. This page will be constantly updated to reflect my thoughts on the coach, practice, the team, and of course the game itself.

Mid-Season Outlook

Now that we have reached the All-Star break, I really feel that our team is in a really good situation. And I don't mean to blow our own horns. We've learned how to win on the road, we've learned how to lose and in between, we've learned how to come back and be competitive. And we also understand that being a good team doesn't guarantee that you're going to win every game. You're only as good as your last game.

With that said, I feel that we've been in the process of learning. And during this process, we continue to learn as we win games and continue to be competitive. That's why I think we're in a great situation.

However, I think the next step, clearly, is how do you compete at a consistent level against the great teams. Not only that, but how to not underestimate the teams who aren't as good. It doesn't take much for us to get up for the big games. But we have to learn how to stay at an even keel against the lower-tier teams. We have to look at every team as a team that can come in and potentially whip our butts. There's no such thing as being good enough that you can't be beaten on any given night in the NBA. And having lost some games in which we should have one so far this season, we are now beginning to learn that. And to me, that is one of the more valuable lessons we can learn.

As the first vice-president of the NBA Players Association, I won't be getting much of a break this All-Star Weekend. I'll be in New Orleans, attending union meetings. But I'll be ready to go next week.

As we prepare for the second half of the season, I'm looking forward to seeing how we can do down the home stretch. We will have a lot of home games toward the end, so hopefully it will be to our advantage.
