Michael in Los Gatos, CA asks...
Do you believe that NBA players have the responsibility of acting professionally both on and off the court to be good role models for kids? Or do you believe that the players never asked to be role models in the first place and therefore do not have to act accordingly?
[Adonal] This is such an important and complicated question that I had to create a new page to answer it properly! Please click here.
Richard in Oakland, CA asks...
Where in the Caribbean are you from?
[Adonal] I was born in Canouan, one of the islands making up the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Check out my favorite links for more information on my island.
Kyle in San Jose, CA asks...
What do you think about the Warriors next year? Who are they going to sign or draft - I think the Warriors should draft Yau Ming, the 7'6'' center from China?
[Adonal] With regards to the Warriors, nothing is ever simple! We have a pretty good team for next year, however with a number three draft pick, I doubt that Ming will be available. I am not certain as to the Warriors long term plan, therefore it is truly difficult to know their future intentions for team.
Brit asks...
I remember reading about your first basketball experience years ago. As I recall, you raced down the court without dribbling and MISSED the dunk. Is there a bit of revisionist history going on here or is my memory failing me?
[Adonal] You are reminding me of this awful experience that I will never live down! Oh well, I did make it to the NBA!
Kareem in New York, NY asks...
1. I know why the guys at the Gate called you "Freddy" but I am dying to find out the story behind "O.D."! Please enlighten me.
[Adonal] If I had an explanation about why I am called O.D., it would have given me great pleasure to let you know, as it is, I have clue! However it might be that my teammates have never bothered to check the actual spelling of my name.
2. Being entrenched in the campaign finance debate, you must be thrilled with the recent campaign finance bill that Bush agreed to sign - any thoughts on the bill and the severity of its restrictions?
[Adonal] It is only a pebble in the ocean, but it is a good way to start the debate. Unfortunately it will change little in Congress in the way of elimination of big money from politics (see Democracy Matters for more details).
Desmond in Perth, Australia asks...
There was a rumour a couple of years ago that you might come and play for the Perth Wildcats - was this true?
[Adonal] I never entertained any thoughts of playing basketball overseas, though it could have been a lot of fun to play in Australia.
Oscar in Brisbane, Australia asks...
What basketball player would you most like to see a well-produced autobiography on?
[Adonal] Clifford Ray, an ex-Warrior. He is such an interesting person that world does not yet know about.
Vickram in Sacramento,CA asks...
It seems like Gary Saint Jean is making the team worse. Do you and the other players expect more from him?
[Adonal] I cannot answer that question...let's just say that the responsibility rests on the players as well as the administration.
Ayami in Mountain View, CA asks...
I really like you, Foyle! I want to buy your jersey with your number on the back but I can not find it anywhere. Where can I find your jersey with number 31?
[Adonal] Unfortunately replicas of my jersey don't seem to be available at the official NBA team stores. However another fan mentioned that he had found my jersey in a shop at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, or try calling the Warriors office in Oakland, 510-986-2200.
Rob in Wheatland, CA asks...
First I want to say that I have enjoyed watching your play grow both on the defensive and offensive end! Was there a specific reason that you chose to attend colgate?
[Adonal] I wanted to be a place where I was treated both as an intellectual and an athlete. I did not want one or the other, but both. Colgate was one of the few places that I believe embodied those two entities wholeheartedly.
Kamakana in Honolulu, HI asks...
Are you going to do the big man camp this summer?
[Adonal] Clifford Ray and Robert Parrish are having a camp in Florida that I will be attending. I will also try to make it to Pete's Big Man camp in Hawaii, as I have heard that this will be his last one.
Eric in Claremore, OK asks...
1. I think that if you started at center for the Warriors, and played more than 35 minutes a game you would average 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks a game, what do you think you would average?
[Adonal] Well I know I will continue to work hard and finds way to make the team better but I am not sure what my average would be especially because I think a pass is as important as a shot.
2. How is your relationship with Danny Fortson?
[Adonal] Danny and I are teammates, and as such we have a professional relationship, but I also admire his hustle and the boards.
Matt in Paducah, KY asks...
I am amazed at how many shots you block and I was wondering what your arm span is and what your vertical leap is? I am 6'2" 150lbs and I can't even grab the rim. Do you have any tips on how I could jump higher to dunk and block shots?
[Adonal] In all honesty I do not measure my arm span or my vertical leap. The block shot is all about timing and discipline. You must learn the principle of verticality, condition yourself not to foul, and above all, get over the fear of being dunked on. Being a good shoot blocker is risking being embarrassed at anytime. Especially since even if you do get ten blocks in a row, Sports Center is only interested in the one time you get dunked on.
And about advice regarding developing your vertical you must undergo a lifting schedule designed for your legs - lots of squats! I like the bear workout. Most health clubs have one, and it really helps.
Justin in Vestal, NY asks...
I was wondering what it was like to play along side Seth at Colgate for the three years you were there?
[Adonal] I had him crying every day in practice! Every time he tried to shoot, I swatted his shot away! So many times after beating him up I had to cheer him up. It was so pitiful·
Just kidding! Seth and I were really good friends. Now that he is in law school and I am in the NBA things are a little hectic, but it was always fun to play with him.
