Adonal Foyle's 2003-2004 Season Outlook
Like many NBA players, Adonal Foyle is enjoying the offseason. But also like many players, Foyle is anxious to begin the 2003-2004 season - his seventh as a pro.
While speculation continues on where veteran point guards like Jason Kidd and Gary Payton will play this coming season, Adonal focuses on headlines closer to home - like where his teammate, young but talented Gilbert Arenas, will be playing. Arenas, winner of this year's NBA Most Improved Player award, is a free agent and has yet to decide whether he will return to the Warriors or test the market.
Adonal gives his thoughts on Arenas, as well as what hopes to be another solid season for the Golden State Warriors:
I hope Gilbert can come back and be a large part of the team. But I know he'll do what is necessary for him. If another place speaks for him, then I wish him all the luck in the world.
Certainly, I would like for him to come back. He is a good player and he can grow to become a great leader on the team. He has the freedom to do that here.
As far as our team goes, we're still a wonderful team. We're young and we still have the possibility to get a point guard. There are many veteran point guards available as well as young guys.
We have a good nucleus still in tact. Should Gilbert decide to move on, I feel the addition of a true leader at the point (guard position) can keep us in contention and moving ahead.
(Head coach) Eric Musselman should be commended. He came to a team that's had a recent history of losing seasons. And to have great success his first year is truly wonderful. I'm sure more will be put on his shoulders this season. But he'll be up to the challenge.
All in all, I look forward to another strong year - and hopefully - a playoff berth.
